Embracing Life

Source: Google Images

I stand and stare at you mutely; waiting for you to say something.
I have asked you everything that I could and yet there is no answer.
I have spent sleepless nights wondering what all is there for me to know yet.
Half hoping to hear something...maybe a feeble word...a faint reply.
I want to scream and cry my heart out ...........
But the voice seems to be missing with tears which have dried up by now.

You have been with me throughout every up and down;
You cradled me like child every time I cried -
And tickled me many a times just to make me laugh.
Kissed away my fears and wiped my tears as you held me close.
I wish you could hold me now, and feel the shivers running down my spine.
I am scared - Of being hurt once more- Of being loved again - Of falling down- Of loving- Of living.

I stride onto the untrodden path with a heart full of uncertainties and fear.
However much I stretch my neck the way ahead does not seem to be clear.
Will I...is the question I ask myself feeling the joy and love I am surrounded with.
Is this all a dream – a fragment of my imagination or a reality which I can embrace?
You hold me tightly to put me to sleep and gently whisper “This time it is for keeps!”
Gently cuddled in yours arms I lay my eyes to rest now knowing all the answers by heart.

However much I stretch my neck the way ahead does not seem to be clear. "

    1. In this poem- the person (I dare say Me) has been through some bad experiences in life and now if seeing something good around her. But she is confused. Is it for real or her imagination. Will she be happy this time or will she be hurt again. She has lot of questions to ask to life and awaits answers. She walks on unknown paths feeling very scared she does not know what is going to happen next. But life takes her into her arms and quietly says this time it is going to be forever... this joy that has come your way is going to stay there in your life. So she falls asleep peacefully now that her questions have been answered.

Hope I was able to clear things here!

P.S: Loved your honesty of not commenting only for the heck of it! :)

  7. An echo, a reflection of what I have been unable to put into words these past few days. The italics are exactly what I'd italicize too, if my feelings were fonts, and needed emphasizing....:) Beautiful, Me.

  16. Your way of writing posts is completely admirable. I am lacking with words. Even in poems you are managed to bring those twists. Your almost every post has an interesting ends ~ positive ends precisely.
This is not a dream, this is reality. As happiness and hurt are two sides of a same coin. And it is relative. If one doesn't know what is hurt, s/he won't be able to appreciate happiness. If you ask what is happiness ? then it will be incomplete to define it without hurt as similar to define light without darkness. :)
It is good to see you back with poems :)
Happiness is not a function of circumstances its all about perception :)
    Embraced :D

    1. Perhaps that has got to do with my thought process - I can never write something utterly negative. I might start on a bad note but the end it has to be OK - because that is the way I see it. And in a typical SRK style ' Agar happy ending nahi hai to - picture abhi baki hai mere dost":)

I strongly believe at the end of it - everything falls into place. This is just a passing phase because of which you cannot close your eyes to the shining tomorrows that glimmer in distance. I agree with you we know what is good for we have seen the bad, it is all a part and parcel of life's growing up process.

Thanks - all my poems are very close to my heart! :)

    1. Being hurt is way of life to teach us something which we would not have learnt any other way. Hence letting that injury heal is as important it is to look forward with hope!
