On this special day I want to share with you all the 10 things I learnt from my friends; 

Never say DIE- When the going gets tough – the tough gets going. We all have been through lives ups and downs in our own unique way but that has never stopped us from enjoying every moment of life as it comes. This is what I have learnt from you all – I salute your courage for smiling and facing life so bravely!

Trust your friends - With you all by my side – trust has never been a problem. We all have at some point of time trusted each other with our deepest secrets and it has always been between the two of us….!

Never carry a grudge – Sometimes we all say things we don’t mean, do stuff we don’t intend unknowingly. But the best thing is we all manage to let go of all such things, never carry a grudge  and still manage to be the bestest of friends possible ..Always!

Distances don’t matter - We all have been in different cities, handling hectic jobs which most of the time don’t leave us with time for meeting, chatting or hanging around. We also find it difficult to call more frequently though we all want to do that. Sometimes it happens we don’t talk for weeks / months together. But even in such times, just a phone call or a simple text saying “Hi!!” evokes the same warmth it did the last time we spoke



Share and Care - We share our joys and we share our tears – that’s what makes us care for each other so much!

***No Terms and Conditions apply – There have been instances where birthdays / anniversaries have been forgotten, missed calls not returned back for weeks together, promises of meeting never kept…but still the base of our friendship remains unshakeable, because it doesn’t have terms or conditions applicable to it.
I promise you I will definitely keep on bugging you with my non stop chattering and also continue to break promises also. 

RAINBOW friendship – I call all of us Rainbow friends because we are all very different in our nature, likes, dislikes, habits and behaviors. In a way we all represent the different colours of life – but when brought together we make a beautiful rainbow. We don’t feel out of place or left out…rather we appreciate the differences and celebrate it. 

You all add colour to my life making it bright and attractive

Never give free advice - In times of trouble, when the other person is crying his/her heart out with their problems it is very tempting to dole out some good piece of advice. But you all have taught me never to give them unless asked for as then your advice is valued more and you respected too!!


Cup of Coffee - On a rainy day (i.e. days when you want to cry your heart out) nothing is as comforting as a good old friend to call….just like a warm cup of coffee. hot, sweet, comforting and by the time its over making u feel good from deep inside. Thanks for being that cup of coffee for me so many times!!

Prizes and Praises – There have been times when I have fallen back on you for some advice – and there are times when you have called me in times of trouble. But the most beautiful aspect it we never discuss it to show off what we do for each other and will continue to do.  

I would like to thank each one of you for being such an integral part of my life and making my world a warm, loving place to live. I have learnt many things from all of you and will continue to learn.

Here’s hoping for many more such wonderful things to happen for years to come where the base of our friendship gets stronger and stronger……

Dear Diary, I fell in love with Mumbai when I first visited it in 1995. Bombay, as it was then known, fascinated me since then.  If you ask me what made me fall in love with this city, I perhaps cannot explain. It wasn't that I was seeing the sea for the first time. It wasn't even the biggest city I had been to till then. Still, there was something so magical about this place. The trip was a short one lasting less than a week but this city now had my heart. Years later, I arrived here all alone on my first solo trip in 2005 and fell in love all over again. I got my first job and was required to come to Mumbai frequently. The local trains, the chaos on the roads, the crowds, the humdrum, the salty smell in the air, the stale air- everything about this city was intoxicating for me.

Essay: How to mourn the loss of love?

Image Source: Unsplash.com I remember the first time I mourned the loss of love was when I was eleven.  For me, dance was love at that time. I had discovered a strange joy as I glided in and out of those movements. Every time I swirled; I could feel my heart soar. Any beat that strained to reach my ears, tempted me to move my body to its tune. I just knew I was born to dance and that is the only thing I wanted to do, all my life.  I had my reasons to believe so and a very simple one at that. It made me happy. That was a reason enough. However, my father thought otherwise. Girls from good families, do not dance. That line was enough to break all those rosy dreams of dancing on a stage. The day my brother was sent to the same dance class which was not good for me, was the day I experienced heartbreak for the first time.  That is the day I mourned the loss of my first love- Dance.

Metro Diaries: The Art of Making Love

Lying aimlessly, just feeling each other in silence. I managed to just whimper to denote my curiosity.   “Because that is the moment we create love. We are the closest we could ever be to love, in its purest form. It is sheer magic as we are naked, in every form. Mentally, physically and emotionally before that one person, we love. We know they can hurt us, as much as they want to, in the way they want to. But love gives us that power to trust them, that they won’t.”   “And here I was thinking it is a need. Something you want at that moment and you get it!”
