The Countdown (Flash Fiction)

Sandip looked at his watch 7:11. Oh shucks! He exclaimed and quickened his pace. Puffing and panting he ran as fast as he could to save every minute .Climbing two steps at a time he was almost about to fall when he held the railing tightly to regain his balance.

He was counting every minute 10-9-8…he began the countdown mentally as he ran out of breath. His life depended on each count. He reached the main gate and saw the time 7:21. ‘This is your last warning. One more time you are late and you will get a memo.’ His boss’s words echoed in his ears as Santacruz Fast left Vikhroli station.
