Reflections ~ 2

Read the previous part  here: Reflections ~ 1

Though I never intended to write this when I wrote the first post , I somehow had the urge to complete this incomplete story.

In the evening when he came home, he was taken aback to see the house locked. 'Oh...shhhh...' he suddenly remembered what had happened in the morning. During the day he had almost forgotten everything amidst office work. He hurriedly fished out the duplicate key from his pocket and opened the door.

He entered the house half expecting to see her rushing towards him like everyday only to find emptiness surrounding him. He was searching the house as if she would just appear there out of nowhere, when suddenly a letter neatly kept under the vase caught his eye. As he read it a tear rolled out of his eye. He quietly folded it and kept it in his pocket as a sigh escaped his lips. Dabbing the corners of his eyes with his palms he tried calling her but her cell phone was switched off.

He cursed himself aloud, 'What a fool I had been...' when suddenly he recollected something and started smiling, ' Oh gosh....how can I forget it. I know where she will be...'. Saying so he rushed out of the house to reach their den. Yes, their den it used to be during their courtship days. 'Those carefree days full of love',he chuckled 'Where did it all go after marriage? It got lost amidst all the responsibilities and practicalities of life. But they both had decided never to let such things affect their love for each other. Then how did it happen?' They had promised each other that any time if one was hurt because of other he/she could be found in their den ; reminiscing good old days.

Within no time he reached there, to see her nicely sitting on a huge rock at some distance. She had her back towards him , hence did not see him coming. The light of the setting sun made her look more beautiful, specially after a bout of crying which seemed to have washed her face thoroughly. 'She is glowing', he could not help admire her beauty from a distance when all of a sudden he got an idea. He took out her letter from his pocket and scribbled something on the back side. He called a nearby street urchin and handed over this letter with a 10 rupee note to be given to her.

She was startled on seeing that urchin standing so close to her. When she looked at him enquiringly he handed over her the letter and ran away from there. With trembling hands she opened the letter;

Translation

If life is a dream; you are the reality. If love is worship, you are the prayer done in that worship. If this entire world is a moment you are that breath taken in that one moment. Like joy is incomplete without a smile, life is without you. As roads lead to destinations, life leads to you.
You are not my imagination, you are my pride – a part of my life which can never be erased. I always expected a lot of things – from you, my own self and this relationship. I never realized when this expectation turned into a need leading to all this. Today I realized the only thing I needed to survive is you, because you make us and we make this beautiful relationship. Leaving behind all the bygones today I want to begin a new journey where the only thing that will change with be the time and nothing else. Would you like to be my partner on that journey?

With tears in her eyes she looked back to see him standing right there with his arms stretched waiting for her. She wasted no time in running to hug him after what seemed like an eternity.
