Memories (Flash fiction)

He will love this” she gushed as she finished laying the table. She had made all his favourite dishes today, after all it was his birthday. As a finishing touch she hid his gift under the napkin silently praying, ‘Hope he likes it.’  She turned to see the time when her glance fell on the nearby mantle piece. His photo adorned the mantle with fresh flowers lying besides. He loved fresh flowers and she never forgot to bring them every day. They always made her feel his presence around her but today they reminded her of his demise……two years ago.

    1. Yes Rahul, I truly believe that sometimes in life there are few people who we still feel around us even after they are no more...

  6. I lost my friend 2.5 years ago. I miss her a lot from time and again. There are things around me..People and Places that remind me of her but I miss her the most on her birthday - I remember the things she liked and I do those things - unfortunately, she isn't present physically to be a part of those things with me...

    1. Thats really sad to hear Divya. I know how it feels to not have someone to share the memories which you both created together. Its hurts terribly..

Even if she is not physically present I am sure the most important thing for her would have been your smiling face...

      Sending hugs to you...TC

  7. Helloo !! is this the continuation of the story what you had left last week ? And if it is so, then it doesn't mean if you are travelling ,you should left me waiting by writing this small piece ;)
Still trying to assemble the puzzle if it is the same story :P. You only know how many more Sundays you will take it to finish it and keep me waiting / guessing for it. :-(. How mean !!
Please mail me some secrets of the story, I will not share with any of your reader for sure. :B
Coming back to some criticising (which I always do but it's bit hard this time :P): I gave a very hard glance at your post and find out little bit inconsistency which I leave on you to figure it out :P.
Appreciation: Now you are hitting on the nerves of reader and showing them a piece of pie without giving it. Rest is well understood.

    1. Nope - this is noways a continuation to the earlier series. This is an independent story in itself. Will be back with the next episode soon :)

Revealing secrets is of no use as I will not get to hear your criticism on it then!!! And yes, a honest confession I am MEAN!

P.S: After reading your comment, I don't know whether you actually appreciated it and should I be happy or did you just criticize it and should I be sad about it?

  23. It hurts...really to see a person still living for those moments that are long past and are never going to come again...but at times it also gives us the courage to live by those happy moments that people had shared together...so it's the perception...be happy or be sad...it's your wish...!!!

    Excellent piece...loved it...!!!
